I made it back to the UK in one piece - a very jet lag one piece, but I made it all the same.

WOW. My time in New York was crazy. That place is huge.
I felt rather overwhelmed when we arrived after a six hour coach journey and eight hour flight... We went straight to Times Square which was quite intense.
Everything in the city is really bright, and tall, and busy. I felt even smaller there than I usually do!
Once I had gotten over the shock of all the lights and big screens, and braved my first hostel shower, I got quite used to packing the trip full of activities to make the most of spending five days there.
We went to the Met Museum, inside Trump Tower, saw the Statue of Liberty and went to a Brooklyn Basketball game.
This is all on top of walking through Central Park, splashing out in sweet shops, toy shops, and seeing the sights from the top of Rockerfeller Center.

We did so much. I was absolutely exhausted by day four, but pushed through and really enjoyed myself. We went inside Grand Central Station and ate in China Town and Little Italy too.
I think it was the food that I found hardest to adjust to. I loved that we could cross the road from our hostel and eat pastries for breakfast everyday, (in fact I will miss that quite a lot) but everything was SO salty.
I felt like my entire body had been dried up and dehydrated from all of the salt and sugar in every meal. Even the fresh fruit smoothie I had at Columbus Circle was made with sweetened almond and coconut milk, so tasted like Pic'n'Mix.
Getting used to the tipping system was hard as it is so different to the UK, and in shops, instead of the cashier saying 'next please,' they say 'following'.

Whilst little things like that were strange to adjust to, overall I had a really good time in New York. I felt like we crammed absolutely everything in and truly made the most of seeing the sights.
We were clicking away on our disposable cameras like proper tourists; buying New York hats and sweatshirts, shot glasses and candy. It was good fun.
I took so many photos on my phone I am surprised the memory isn't full yet! Instead of sharing every single one of them on Instagram, I have put together a video of the highlights of my trip - as promised.
You can see for yourselves the kind of bright and busy place New York is, all through the awkward video diary of little me in the big city.
I think I drove everyone crazy with my constant videoing, and definitely got some odd looks from people when I was filming myself in the street, but it was worth it.
