With recent protests on climate change and awareness that for future generations, the planet is going to need some serious saving, I interviewed my younger sisters (9 and 6 years old), to see how aware the younger generation really is. Where do they get their information and do they know what needs to be done for their planet?

POLITICS
Whose responsibility is it to tell us what’s going on with the world?
I: Often the government – Theresa May!
S: And the people on the telly, they should tell people not to throw plastic in the sea
Why did you mention Theresa May?
I: I don’t know I just mentioned her. Because a lot of people vote her to the liberal... I’m not sure…
Who is she?
I: A politician
What kind of politician? Who is she to our country?
I: The President?
S: The president was Donald Trump
He still is. Theresa May is our Prime Minister, she makes a lot of our countries decisions.
I: So, she should be the one to try and spread the news about climate change. Or tell you through a play that you can tell your friends to go and watch, like the play we went to see at the Egg Theatre about politics! There should be things like that because it spreads the word a lot quicker. Then you can go to your friends and your parents 'oh, we went to see this show about how to stop climate change, it was really interesting, you should go and see it.'
Why do you think politicians should be responsible for telling people about climate change?
I: Because people often listen to them
Right, politicians have the power to say things that people listen to-
S: Everyone has the power to save the world
That's right, they do. Do you learn much about this in school?
I: I did last year, in year three. It was mixed in with our other subject about volcanoes or something, it was kind of squeezed into that
S: When I’m in year three, I will also learn about space
So, do they tell you in assemblies about the protests that are going on?
I: No
Do you think people your age know a lot about climate change?
I: No, people our age should know a lot more so when they get a bit older they can actually start doing something about it
Have you seen the film Wall-E?
I: Yes, it’s about a robot that goes to a junk land. I don’t really know what the story is but he makes a lot of stuff out of the junk he finds
He is left on Earth when it’s abandoned and ruined
I: Is it set as what might happen?
I believe it is, yes
S: And that’s why you should not do loads of plastic, and, Daddy eats a lot and a lot of junk
I: In the summer fair at school, I feel like there should be a table on climate change because people need to know the message otherwise, we’re gonna be living on Mars with barely any water
S: On Mars we’ll probably die really, really quickly.
You said that everyone has the power to change the world - how are you going to use your power to do that?
S: I will build stuff instead of recycling, I will recycle it at our house
I: Use … less… pollution! Don’t drive your cars as much
S: Eating less fish and meat
I: Use less plastic!
What else can we do?
S: To save the world? Eat more veg
